1) OIL AND GAS CONSULTANCY : The potential of Cameroon’s natural resources especially the production of crude oil and gas as alternative energy sources has lately been more certain than any other time in the past.
We represent clients in obtaining the necessary permits and licences from the government who is encouraging investors in this sector. We also review/draft the necessary agreements especially counselling on PRODUCTION SHARING CONTRACTS AND CONCESSIONS.
2) GENERAL COMMERCIAL & CORPORATE LAW :: Our general commercial practice involves the day to day counsel on all businesses, incorporations both in the common law and civil law jurisdictions, counsel on our business laws (laws enacted by the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Laws in Africa better known by its French acronym, OHADA). Share holdings and transfer, participation in company ownership, due diligences, forms of companies and commercial transaction reviews and drafting of all forms of commercial contracts.
Debt recoveries form part of our day to day general commercial law practice. We represent foreign investors in the ownership and management they have in local companies and defend their interests in litigations involving company shareholdings.
3) PROBATE: We handle marriage preparations and counselling especially between non nationals and nationals. Divorce, judicial separation and adoption proceedings. Child care handling and old age legislation.
4) AVIATION : We offer general counsel on our civil aviation laws, aircraft matriculation, leasing and sale. Counsel to victims of crashes and insurance claims.
5) TAXATION CONSULTANCY : In collaboration with our fiscal analysts, we counsel clients on the best taxation options in Cameroon and the monitoring of payments and reimbursements from the fiscal administration. We also defend clients before the fiscal administration when under control or inquiries.
6) LABOUR LAW : We represent both employers and employees before the labour administration and in courts. We obtain employment visas from the labour administration for expatriates. We also counsel on the best labour or service providers in the field.
7) CRIMINAL LAW : With the new CRIMINAL PROCEDURE CODE applicable in Cameroon from the 1st of January 2007, our law office has a track record of defending accused persons and ensuring that their rights are protected to the letter.
We represent people of all walks of life and this falls in line with our human rights defence policy enhanced by our human rights consultants.
8) MARITIME LAW / ADMIRALTY : Our maritime law practice touches more on the protection of the maritime environment and the arrest and defence of vessels in Cameroon.
We also register vessels and follow up the respect of norms in Cameroon.
9)CIVIL RIGHTS AND HUMAN RIGHTS : In collaboration with local human rights activists in Cameroon, we have taken part in many mass trials and defence of citizens locked up in prisons or tortured. Our human rights division is headed by much schooled colleagues in the field.
10) REAL ESTATE : We represent clients in real estate transactions especially involving the expropriation of land and concession of land from the government.
We draft leases especially long leases involving future interests to be transferred.
11) GENERAL REPRESENTATION: We represent clients’ interest in many business establishments in Cameroon. This involves sitting in for them in board meetings and major decision taking for and signing in for clients who are parties to the execution of main contracts.
12) INTERNET LAW: Internet crime and hacking is fast growing in our jurisdiction. We counsel client on all forms of violation of their rights and prone amicably settlements with parties wherever they may be.
13) BANKING LAW: The incorporation of new banks in Cameroon is our major service this not with standing, we counsel banks in all aspects of licensing, other participations and transactions.
14) INSURANCE LAW : We do claims for insured persons, draft/review contract both for insurance and reinsurance. We represent insurance companies as part of our general commercial law practice.
15) MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS. We represent our clients’ stakes in these transactions both in and out of the country. We do the due diligence to be sure of the profitability of the transaction and tax incidences.
15) TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND AUDIO-VISUAL LAW.
We represent, counsel and defend clients on all aspects of telecommunications and audio-visual laws in Cameroon. We assist clients to obtain all the necessary authorizations, concessions or declarations before the competent authorities where necessary. We also assist clients to access public networks, get interconnected and share infrastructure with other operators.
Regarding telecommunications disputes, we defend client’s interests before the Telecommunications Regulatory Board and the competent courts.
ATANGA LAW OFFICE is also very active in providing legal services in the information technology sector. We do not only register domain names with the National Agency for Information Technology and Communication (ANTIC), but we also negotiate, draft, execute and perfect contracts of information technology maintenance and advice, financing of information and software follow-up.
The firm equally advises on the patentability of hardware and protection of software as copyright or, trademark under industrial property.
Yet we have also had the occasion to give advisory services on criminal offences in information technology involving piracy of software as an operating system.
